Updates

Ah, can't sleep. Spend the last 4 hours tossing and turning in bed. Don't really enjoy these sleepless nights, I get it every now and then. During the day I'll be all tired, maybe a lil grouchy, but mostly zombiefied, and unable to function properly. Starting to become like my mum di, light sleeper, oh nos!

First of all, thx to Kar Kien for clarifying that my previous post about Stanford is NOT TRUE. Have a look at this. Got it from
http://www.stanford.edu/about/history/. Here's a part of it:

Leland Stanford, who grew up and studied law in New York, moved West after the gold rush and, like many of his wealthy contemporaries, made his fortune in the railroads. He was a leader of the Republican Party, governor of California and later a U.S. senator. He and Jane had one son, who died of typhoid fever in 1884 when the family was traveling in Italy. Leland Jr. was just 15. Legend has it that the grieving couple said to one another after their son's death, "the children of California shall be our children," and they quickly set about to find a lasting way to memorialize their beloved son.

The Stanfords visited several great universities of the East to gather ideas. An urban legend, widely circulated on the Internet but untrue, describes the couple as poorly-dressed country bumpkins who decided to found their own university only after being rebuffed in their offer to endow a building at Harvard. They did visit Harvard's president but were well-received and given advice on starting a new university in California. From the outset they made some untraditional choices: the university would be coeducational, in a time when most were all-male; non-denominational, when most were associated with a religious organization; and avowedly practical, producing "cultured and useful citizens" when most were concerned only with the former.

Just click go to that site if you wanna know more and the context of it. Sorry everyone, I did not intend to spread rumours. Gonna delete the post the later.

Uhm, yep, I'm having my 2-weeks mid-sem break now. 1st week is over, heading on to the 2nd week di. I didn't, or rather couldn't update much cos I had major tests and other assesment that were due just be4 this break. Overall, 1st sem was not too bad, EXCEPT, for my Stats test, might've failed it, we all found it tough, Im just hoping it'll be scaled up, PLS be scaled up. The lecturer was just urgh, she set such a touch and long paper, we only had 45mins and the test was like 10 pages long. Was definitely way harder than expected. It was really depressing that day, cos well, I did prepared thoroughly for it but as most of you would know, anything can happen during an exam, like some unfortunate nervous breakdown cos of the difficulty, or affected by the weather, or pen ran out of ink, or some hot/cute chiq/guy sitting next to you, etc etc. Gotta work harder for the 2nd half of the sem.

Thought I'd get rid of the sad news first, now on to some good juicy news. I did kayak-ing for the first time! It was last Sat with Aaron and my church's pastor, Richard at Brooklyn River. Yes, his name is Richard, funny cos my youth pastor back in Msia is also Richard, and they're both angmoh. Anyways, kayaking is really, really tiring! For me at least, cos I was new at it, Aaron did it before and Richard is an old timer. Paddled for at least 4 hours, spent like the 1st 2hours just getting the technic right, but after that it was pretty natural, except that I was so tired due to improper technic in the first 2hours. But besides that, it was really, really awesome. Just enjoying the peace and the wonders of nature, very very refreshing, loved it ALOT! River was mostly calm, but was choppy for a moment. Oh, scariest thing was seeing the jellyfishes, saw bout 6 of them with the size of a basketball, they were MASSIVE compare to the ones in the Sydney Aquarium, fuh, think I knocked bout 2 of them with the oar, oops. If you want some of the pics it might be up later. But yeah, really thankful and fortunate to have such good weather that day, just to enjoy the some of the great wonders of God's masterpiece.

Before the tests and assesment etc etc were due, uni mates and I joined a basketball competition organized by the actuarial society (ASSOC) of my uni (Macquarie Uni) and University of New South Wales (UNSW). Kok Ken was in the team as well hah, when do you wanna cut hair dude. It was more for fun, nothing competitive cos we didn't really expect much ah, we were OK, not great, but we had fun, well at least I did. 4 groups with 4 teams in each of them, top team of each group qualifies to semis straight away, there wasn't any quarter finals. We were 3rd in our group, not bad ahhhh, won 1 lost 2. We were in the same group as last years champion, sobs, our first match was against them, hah! They took it easy on us, and we just played along ler, but we can prouldy say we scored bout 6 points against the champions! It's 1 point for each basket, 2 points for 3 pointers. They went ahead and won this year's comp as well. Quite a fun day ah, get to catch up with Ken and had pizzas, woohoo! Any socials with pizzas, definitely a plus!

During this break, am just slowly catching up on what I've fallen behind and gotta revise/study for a couple of major tests. I think my uni mates are planning for some outing to theme park, bit of mini golf and archery. That's gonna be sometime this week.

Hurm, I think that's about it. Heh, problem with not updating often is that you tend to forget what's happened. Bit of a wordy post but there you go. Now Pearly, Wei Liang, Wei Chye n Joseph are at UK di, hah, pray that you all will enjoy your stay there, and omgosh is it so, so very weird chatting with 9 hours of time difference ah!! Imagine if its 2.30am and on msn someone tells you 'k i gtg di, frens call me go jogging', you'll be like, WAT?? NOW?? Then you go like, oh ya, 9 hours diff. But, it just feels so weird, don't know if anyone can relate haha.

Hurm hurm, what am I gonna do for 2.5 hours before going for badminton.
Korean songs are awesome, haha, go Wonder Girls!!!
